As we bid farewell to the tumultuous year that was 2022, its time to look ahead and set our sights on the future.
What will 2023 bring? What do you want to focus on this year?
For me, my theme for 2023 is FOCUS. This word resonates deeply with me and I believe it will guide me through this year.
What does ‘Focus’ mean to you?
Focus is about having clarity on what matters most to us and staying in alignment with our intentions. It’s a way of cultivating presence by eliminating distractions and staying focused on what matters most.
As we become more aware of our intentions and goals for this new year, it is important to recognise and embrace the power that comes from focusing on what matters. From personal growth to professional development, each of us has the opportunity to use focus as a tool for achieving our goals and new year resolutions.
When we focus, we can make more meaningful progress towards our goals and new year resolutions because we have narrowed down our scope to only those things that are truly important.
To kick off this journey in 2023, I’ve hosted our Heart Talk event with a group of amazing and inspiring people to have an evening of honest conversations about what focus looks like in our lives.
I also got everyone to identify the first 3 words they see in the image below (credit to @ask.jen)
What’s interesting is the words that stand out for everyone is different, because they have different focus.
Would you like identify your first 3 words too?
Here are the 3 words that stood out for me:
1) LESSON
It is about understanding what we need to learn from the experiences that have come before us. Whether you are trying to build a successful business, ace that interview or get that job promotion, it helps to look back at previous successes and failures in order to identify lessons that can be applied in the present.
This lesson-driven approach allows us to make better decisions based on what has worked well or not so well in the past.
2) BREAKTHROUGH
The second word is “breakthrough” which focuses on pushing through boundaries or obstacles that may be blocking progress. A breakthrough requires creativity and unconditional commitment towards results – something only achievable when you stay focused on your goal.
It’s important to remember that a breakthrough can happen big or small; it doesn’t always have to be dramatic or life-altering!
3) CREATION
The third word is “creation” which speaks directly into manifestation – turning ideas into reality with intentionality and focus to achieve our goals and new year resolutions.
The more time spent putting the ideas into action, the greater chance of success you will have throughout your journey. It takes courage and dedication, but creating something out of nothing is incredibly rewarding! Don’t you agree?
By staying mindful of lessons learned from past experiences, breaking through barriers with creativity and commitment, and creating something new with intention – these 3 words will guide me as I move forward into this new year with clarity and purpose.
What about you? What are your 3 words? How do they resonate with you?
Once you’ve identified your theme of the year and the mantra, the next question we must ask is:
How Do You Stay Focused On Your Goals and New Year Resolutions?
1. Set short-term, process goals.
Process goals are the things you do throughout your journey to get your results.
Example of a process goal:
To workout for a minimum of 45 minutes a day 3 times a week.
Example of a result goal:
To Weigh 45 kg by December 31, 2021
Process goals help us to stay focus within a reasonable timeframe. It allows us to break down success into smaller steps which can be more manageable than focusing on the bigger picture all at once. The success we make on a day to day gives us the quick reward that fuel our motivation to stay on track towards longer-term goals.
2. Reflect and Recalibrate
Another way to stay focused on your goals and not failing on your new year resolution is by setting aside time for reflection each day or week so that we can assess what works and what could have been done better.
By taking a step back from the hustle, we can gain perspective on how well aligned our current actions are with our desired outcomes. Reflection helps us stay true to ourselves by providing us with an opportunity to keep track of our progress over time and adjust accordingly until we achieve our goals.
Conclusion:
So here’s my challenge for all of you reading this post – pick your own personal theme for 2023!
Whether it’s “growth”, “love” or “adventure” – get creative and think of something that resonates with you! Then use that theme as your guiding light throughout the year whenever you need motivation or direction.
How will you use your chosen theme to focus your efforts this year?
Let’s make 2023 an amazing year filled with growth, love and fulfilment! 🌟✨💫⚡️👊🏼💥♥️♣️☄️💥⚡️✨🌟
P.S. And if you ever feel like you’d like to hold my hands to turn 2023 into an amazing year of growth and transformation with you, let’s talk.
